Case Study

More specifically, the project focussed on an analysis of the process of capturing and recording consultants' time, the integration of this data into the accounting system, and the subsequent generation of customer invoices, and reports, for example, consultants' productivity reports.

Consultants were using MS Excel spreadsheets to record their time, and this data was being re-keyed by a bookkeeper into the accounting system (Intuit Quickbooks Professional), resulting in time-wasting duplication of data entry, and limited information being available for generation of meaningful resource-planning and productivity reports.

Plus 6 implemented a time-recording add-on application (QB ProTimer) to Quickbooks Premier, enabling consultants to enter time and other information directly into the system's customer/job database. A simple data export/import process eliminated the time-wasting duplication of time-related data entry. Utilising Quickbooks' integration with MS Excel, data could be exported easily into MS Excel, and the functionality of MS Excel enabled the design of information-rich productivity and other reports.
